Experimenting with my Camera-2

Here's the color image of today's black and white.

Experimenting with my Camera

One of the best ways to learn photography is to experiment. I've been taking classes through various sources as well as reading articles from magazines and the internet. The most interesting magazines I have found are Outdoor Photographer and Popular Photography and Imaging. Anyway, a series of books written about most cameras has been a valuable resource.

One of the things I learned was using the filters already in my camera. If I take a photo of something and think it would look good in black and white or serpa or soft color or whatever, I camera change the filter to that color/setting and resave the image.

Today's image was taken at one of my favorite places, the forest. I'd like to hear your opinions on this image. Does it look good in black and white?

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY- a Tribute to my Wife

To My Wife: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! I love you more than I can say with gifts, cards, words or ever express. I love your willingness to travel and see parts of the country we've never seen before. I love your early morning smile and hair-do when all you think is that I am half crazed, I love the smile you got from your grandmother, your laugh when I am being crazy, the help and advice you have given me with my health problems, but most of all, I love the Christian life I see in you when you care for others, always ready to help those in need, prepare someone a meal, always ready to give them a hug or a smile to cheer them on their way, just help in anyway you can.

We've been married a little more than 12 years were friends awhile before that. These 12 years have been the best years of my life. You are the light and the heart beat of my life... I LOVE YOU SWEETS, FOREVER AND EVER, Allen

Finally Friday and Dog and Cat Photography Service

YES!! FINALLY FRIDAY! I love the weekends because it affords me time to spend time with my wife, work on my photography, enjoy my dog and cat. My cat has gotten to where he likes to spend his time in my studio with me when I am working. My dog is older now and can't climb the steps like he used to so I really miss his company in my studio. He used to do most of the cropping!!

My passion for dogs and cats has led me to launch a new photography service this spring to residents of Northern Virginia. Two packages are available, the Little Paw and the Big Paw. Pricing ranges from $100 to $300 depending on selection of proofs. I will have the details on my website, http://www.allenpearsonsphotos.com/, within a few days.

In the meantime, enjoy!! It's Friday! No matter how rough the day gets, the weekend is on it's way, minute by minute.

It's February in Northern Virginia but......

I felt like doing like this seal, since the weather was in the upper 60's. Great treat for winter. This image was taken off Pier 39 in San Francisco last summer.

For those of us......

It is snowing again with the forecast calling for it to be just a dusting or maybe an inch or two. Around here, you never know what to expect with a forecast like that! For those of us who wish winter would go by as quick as possible, I am posting one of my photos from Yosemite last summer. Some green and blue skies to enjoy in mid-winter. It was a beautiful trip and would like to go back and see it again.

Hidden in the Shadow of His Wings - By Bud Hance

Psalm 17:8 (NASB)
Keep me as the apple of the eye;
Hide me in the shadow of Thy wings,

Just as we protect the pupils ("apples") of our eyes, so God will protect us. We must not conclude, however, that we have somehow missed God's protection if we experience troubles. God's protection has far greater purposes than helping us avoid pain; it is to make us better servants for him. God also protects us by guiding us through painful circumstances, not only by helping us escape them.

The "shadow of your wings" is a figure of speech symbolizing God's protection. He guards us just as a mother bird protects her young by covering them with her wings.
