Saluting Our Military - Memorial Day 2011

I would like to honor our military servicemen and women this Memorial Day weekend 2011 by saying "Thank you."

Thank you for all that you have done so that I can have the freedom to do what I want, to write this blog, to photograph, to attend the church of my choice and especially THANK YOU to those who have given their lives in the line of duty. You have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Thank you!

This image was not staged. I saw the flowers petal laying across the flower and thought it would make a good shot. As I thought of a title for it, I've named it "Saluting our Military - Memorial Day 2011"

Old 100th and The Red Bud Blooms

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow:
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen

Life's Changes in Spring

Haven't written for awhile as life has brought me many changes, mostly good, a few sad, but that's what life does. Change. Which is good as it would get boring if it was always the same!

As some changes come around, such as the loss of a loved one, you grieve how you feel or believe is appropriate for you. That's what I've been doing. I followed the advice of a holistic blog writing I found and took time for myself, have said "no" or "not right now" to a few things, kept my schedule relatively clear especially on Saturdays, went to the mountains for a day, worked in my gardens and have enjoyed many walks with my dog Noah. Often, I think God sent Noah to help me through these rough days. But, I believe God works all things together for good. Loss can be good or bad depending on your focus. Yes, I miss the person, but they are not suffering and are in heaven. I focus on the good of no longer suffering and heaven.

Embarassing to say, after the loss, or before the loss, not sure exactly, I had updated my computers and added Lightroom 3 to my workflow. I took a Lightroom 3 class in January, but have forgotten much of what I learned since I didn't return for a bit. So, I've been on a learning curve that seemed to keep bending here lately.

I have missed writing, photographing and facebooking over the past few months. I am working to get back on track and write often, photograph often and maybe sell a few images off my site.
