Happy Friday, Meet Marcus

Happy Friday!! The day I look forward to all week- not to wish my life away, but, I love my weekends with my wife, dog and cat. So, I look forward to evenings and weekends.

I've been photographing dogs again and am having a blast. I've started doing some volunteer work with PetConnect Rescue. Since I already have a dog and really can't handle another dog in the house (also trying to respect the cat), I donate my photography skills.

This is Marcus. He is full of energy and loves to play. He would be the perfect dog for someone who loves to run (alot) or bike even. While I was photographing him, he stole my dog toy (one I use to get their attention) and ran around the yard. That was after he tried to get into my camera bag.

Want a friend or companion full of energy and fun? Check out Marcus at www.petconnectrescue.org.

Praise The Lord

Let Everything Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary,
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
Praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Garden Perspectives

My new exhibit, "Garden Perspectives" is cuurently on display at the Penn Camera - Fair Lakes, 12967 Fair Lakes Parkway, Fairfax, VA.

Last night was the reception which went very well. The image on this page was one of the favorites of most visitors. Many liked the raindrops while others were interested in the capturing of the sun in the raindrops. And, of course, color was an interest.

Garden Perspectives is about the beauty found in the garden. The current exhibit focuses on flowers, future exhibits might feature birds, insects and wildlife that would be found in your typical backyard or botanical gardens.

That's Not Fair - by Bud Hance

Ezekiel 18:24-26 (NKJV)24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die. 25 “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? 26 When a righteous man
turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies.

The obstinate foolishness and arrogance of the people of Israel was to declare God to be unfair rather than to simply obey Him. A typical childish response to punishment is to say, "That isn't fair!" In reality, God is fair, but we have broken the rules. It is not God who must live up to our ideas of fairness; instead, we must live up to His. Don't spend your time looking for the loopholes in God's Law. Decide instead to live up to God's standards.

Let It Shine by Raven Weaver

I have invited a friend to write today's blog. Hopefully, we will have more writings from her in the future:

Have you ever noticed that those who have been truly baptized in the Holy Spirit, those who are IN love with the Lord, those that find peace in submitting to the Lord's will, those totally souled out to God are the ones who exuberate and illuminate such a brilliant light that you think it's possible they open their mouths and a beam of glory may come out? Did you know that's how God intended all of His children to be? We are the light of the world if Christ lives in us (Matthew 5:14, 15). We are called according to His purpose and not our own (Romans 8:28). It's exceedingly important though that we realize we must deny ourselves (less of me=less darkness, as flesh is so full of selfish sin, and thus more room for the REAL Fullness) and follow Him (Matthew 16:24).

What does that look like? Well, it's not something that is easily attained, as living in the fullness of Him requires obedience in following the Word... NOT the world! Truly walking in obedience proves our reciprocation of love towards our Savior, for we don’t have to yet we WANT to! Without faithful, continual, deliberate obedience we cannot hope to have and be in the fullness of the Spirit. Stop. Pray. Listen. OBEY! That's when "this little light of mine” is turned up LOUD and the glory of the Lord will show round about us, allowing His children to spread the love, spread the gospel, and reach the lost! (Leviticus 9:6)

Proverbs 4:18-19 (NIV)

18 The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble.

Ephesians 5:8-14 (NIV)

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Matthew 5:14-15 (NIV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Daniel 12:3 (NIV)

3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
