Photographing The Seasons: Sunrise Over the Pond

"Sunrise Over The Pond" was taken while following a trail in Herndon, Virginia around a small pond.

Located in a business park and near a housing development, the area quickly became a wildlife habitat.  Having seen Heron, Deer, and a wide variety of birds, I've stopped by here frequently to photograph and enjoy the nature.

Friday's Foto: Northern Cardinal in Winter

One of my favorite aspects of natural gardening in attracting and feeding various birds.

Over the years of natural gardening, I've attracted many species of birds including the Cardinal, American Goldfinch, Northern Mockingbird, Black-Capped Chickadee and the Carolina Wren.

During the winter months, these birds, remind me of the beauty of the coming spring.

Sunday's Thought

"A world of nice people, content in their own niceness,
looking no further, turned away from God,
would be just as desperately in need of salvation
as a miserable world-and might be even more difficult to save.

Sunday's Thought

I had a friend who refused to believe in God and Salvation because he could not see Him. My friend has two or three Master's Degrees in the area of Psychology and Statistics. With his credentials, I was surprised at his lack of common sense or believing something without having to see it.

Though, from my own experience, I know it's something you must learn to have the faith and drop it there. In other words, as my mind works, if I let it challenge me, it will. I put my faith and trust in God and His Word and leave it there. I found a Bible believing church that I can support and leave it there. I can't question because as my personality traits prove, I will analyze it to death. So it stops there. Not only that, He has proven repeatedly over the years that He is there. Not to make me healthy, wealthy or wise, but to care, love and take care of me.

I've wondered about my friend over the years. I haven't heard from him and we've lost touch. Much is the society where we live, unless you determine to keep in touch with someone, it's easy to loose track and social media really doesn't do it the way we need.

One of the points he used to make to me was that he was enjoying his life and didn't see a need to change or correct or do anything about it. I don't judge, but I knew without Christ, he would be headed to hell not to heaven. Though, I never shoved the Gospel in his face, as I don't like that, I shared it with him often. My heart still goes out to him and I find myself praying for him and his family often.

Not long ago, my favorite local radio station WGTS 91.9 FM, was playing a song "What If" by Nicole Nordeman which reminded me of my friend which spurred my mind to thinking "what am I missing in this life by following Christ?" Was my friend right that he's having fun and I am not?

After all, I have a college degree, have traveled the United States and Europe, dated as I wanted to until I met "Miss Right" which changed life to an even better level, I've heard some of the world's finest music performed by some of the world's greatest orchestras, I've been blessed by hymns of church and well as many of the songs with a rockier beat. And, I've eaten dinner at several very good restaurants. I've been employed. I've read some great novels which took me on adventures throughout the world. All the while of having Christs love in my heart. Having Christ in my heart makes all these sound so trivial as my heart is happy and content.

Here's the words of the song which made me think further-

What If - Nicole Nordeman

What if you're right
And He was just
Another nice guy

What if you're right
What if it's true
They say the cross
Will only make a fool of you
And what if it's true

What if He takes His place in history
With all the prophets and the kings
Who taught us love and came in peace
But then the story ends, what then

But what if you're wrong
What if there's more
What if there's hope
You never dreamed of hoping for

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He's more
Than enough what if it's love

What if you dig
Way down deeper
Than your
Simple-minded friends

What if you dig
And what if you find
A thousand more
Unanswered questions down inside
That's all you find

What if you pick apart the logic
And begin to poke the holes
What if the crown of thorns is no more
Than folklore that must be told and retold

But what if you're wrong
What if there's more
What if there's hope
You never dreamed of hoping for

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He's more
Than enough what if it's love

'Cause you've been running
As fast as you can
And you've been looking
For a place you can land
For so long but what if you're wrong

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He's more
Than enough what if it's love
What if it's love

If you're reason for not accepting Christ as Lord of your life is like my friends- what if you are wrong?  What if you would have a more fulfilled and happier life by serving Him.  What if you could enjoy a joy or peace or happiness furtherest than your understanding.

By serving Him, I do not believe that I've missed out on anything in this life- and, trust me, I analzyed this further than I can say.

I know for me, no matter what I've done in this life, my happiest moments have been to share Him with others and they learn the happiness in the Gospel-  and, that it's true.

Photographing The Seasons: Fire!

"Fire!"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved
One winter I was walking through a local park and thought I saw flames.  Too cold and wet for that- we'd just had a huge snow.  I did a double-take.

As it turns out, one of the plants (have no idea what it is) turns or is a reddish color in the winter months.  The reddish color looked like flames.

Sunday's Thought

Believe in the Confidence

Last week I wrote about trusting God for things I cannot control- "Do not worry and have faith and trust." And, that whenever something comes up, put my trust in Him.

Seems whenever I write about something, I will have to live it out or experience it again within the next few weeks. This week was no exception. Two

winter storms hit the area this week. One was ice and snow, while the second was mostly ice or sleet.

My first thought was, "Oh great! ice and snow to go out in-" I really am not interested in that. Surprisingly, my plans for the day were cancelled. God took care of this for me. I thought later, why am I surprised?!

The second time in the week,

I was about to head home when it began sleeting. My first thought was to fret about the traffic and getting home safely.

Then, I remembered last weeks Sunday's Thought. My next thought was "believe the Confidence!" Meaning, forget worrying, ignore Satan's attempts to derail you and go on. Needless the say, it began sleeting pretty steady by the time I got home but I kept thinking "believe the Confidence" -quit holding onto the hold. God will take care of you.

Christ created a confidence for in Him as He loves me enough to care that I get home safely or get around safely. And, He cares about ALL our concerns.
