Sunday's Thought

I Know!

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
- Ephesians 2:8-9

If you were to ask me, “Adrian Rogers, are you saved?” I'd say, “Yes, praise God! I know I am saved!”

But if works have anything to do with my salvation, and you were to ask me, “Adrian Rogers, are you saved?” I'd have to say, “Well, now, let me think. Yes, I believe I'm saved. I prayed today and I studied the Bible. I didn't curse today, and I didn't steal. But uh-oh, I did lose my temper today. Well, let me see. I hope I'm saved.”

If you depend upon works, a little or a lot, to get you to heaven; then you'll never be able to say, “Praise God, I know that I know that I'm saved.” But you’re not saved by works. You’re saved by grace through faith.

Garden Perspectives: Flowers in the Garden

"Flowers in the Garden"

Several years ago I had the opportunity to photograph at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in North Carolina and created this image.

Not sure what the flowers are, I like the colors against the stone wall.

Sunday's Thought

(C) Allen Pearson

"The sting of death is sin,
and the power of sin is the law,
but thanks be to God,
who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ."

- 1 Corinthians 15:56-57

God's Plan of Salvation for man is a simple thing for man who lives in a world where everything is complicated and confusing.  His Plan is as simple as:

Admitting:  Admit that you are a sinner, just like everyone else born into this world, until we  confess to Jesus Christ and ask His forgiveness:

"[23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
[24] and are justified by his grace as a gift,
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,"

-Romans 3:23-24, ESV

"[23] For the wages of sin is death,
but the free gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord."

-Romans 6:23, ESV

Believing: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ:

[16] “For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish
but have eternal life."

-John 3:16, ESV

and Confessing: Confess of your sins in a prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ:

[9] "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. "
- Romans 10:9, ESV

[13] For “everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved.” - Romans 10:13, ESV

So now what?  If you prayed this prayer with your whole heart and believed what you did, you are now a Christian.  My suggestion is to find a local church and become involved.  Talk to the pastor about this experience and ask him to teach you where to go or what to do next.

Garden Perspectives: Clematis

"Clematis"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

I will be looking for a place to grow this beautiful flower in my new garden.  I grew several at my old house, a white one and a purple one by my mailbox on the street curb and a couple in the backyard.

The beauty of the two combined around the mailbox to create an awesome curb appeal to be enjoyed whenever I came home and when getting the mail  The important that thing to remember is keeping the blooms clear of the mailbox so the mailman, or woman, doesn't get stung when delivering mail.  Or, you when getting the mail.

Garden Perspectives: What is this Flower?

"Pretty in Purple"
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved
I am trying to identify this flower.

Several years ago, I went on a vacation in California.  I think this flower or plant was photographed in a small garden, maybe even growing wild, along one of the streets of San Francisco.

Do you know what the flower or plant is?  If so, please note in comments below.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should
not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16

A powerful Scripture!

Jesus died for you, Jesus died for me.  Jesus rose from the grave for you. Jesus rose from the grave for me.  Why?  Jesus was crucified, rose from the grave so that our sins could be forgiven, by asking in prayer, faith snf belief, and we would have eternal life in Heaven with Him.

Wednesday's Words

(C) Allen Pearson

9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Terror, Scary News Stories, and the Like...

Have you noticed the increase in terror, violence, scary news stories and like lately? Often, sitting to watch the evening news, and sometimes listening to the news on the radio, can be a scary experience.

First, it's the news story, then it's an analysis, then it's an analysis of the analysis, then it a behind the scenes, then it's a "what we didn't know and are just finding out," then it's an analysis of that, and many more variations of the same kind of who didn't do what and why it wasn't done with who all else should have. All the while adding a bit more stress than the story before or leaving you wondering if it could happen again and where you are living.

And, it can place quite a bit of stress on a person if they aren't careful. To me, it wouldn't be so bad if the news story weren't repeated many times over creating more stress or worry or concerns on a person.

A few years ago, I put a limit on how much news I watch or listen to on the radio.  I was tired of hearing about all the horrible things happening in the world. While I need to know what's going on, I don't need to know it every minute I turn on the news.

However, one thing I noticed was the calm presence I always have in my heart as I would go about life after hearing these news stories. Amidst all the craziness of the news, I would have a reassurance of God's Love and comfort for me in my heart.

With God, there isn't anything in the world to worry about.   While being a Christian isn't a guarantee of a perfect, smooth, sweet life with no problems, no headaches, no heartaches, it is a guarantee of God's Comfort and Love for you, in your heart-

God's Plan of Salvation is best life for you- if you'd like to learn more, please visit, Peace With God.
